Police bust gang involved in heroin smuggling, 2 held

TARN TARAN : Police claimed to have busted a gang involved in smuggling heroin and also arrested two people after recovering 520 grams of heroin from their possession near Booh village, 30 km from the district headquarters, on Saturday.
The accused Sukhdev Singh, 30, and Pargat Singh, 32, are based out of Ferozepur, police said.
Police have also recovered a Maruti Suzuki Alto, which they say was being used by the accused to smuggle drugs.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Patti, Sohan Singh, said a special naka was set up to nab the accused near Akalia farmhouse in Booh village.
He further added that police got a tip-off that the duo was headed to Amritsar to smuggle heroin.
The DSP said a case under sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the two
accused.
2 HELD WITH REVOLVER, STOLEN BIKE
Meanwhile, in another case in the same village police arrested two people with a stolen motorcycles, a revolver, 20 gram heroin and a live cartridge, on Saturday.
DSP Singh said a team led by sub-inspector Baljinder Singh Harike laid a naka near Booh village and stopped a motorcycle having no registration number.
“On being interrogated, the accused confessed that they had stolen the bike from a hospital in Makhu, Ferozepur. Police have also recovered 20 gram heroin, a revolver and a live cartridge from their possession,” Singh said. A case under the NDPS Act, IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
