Elderly couple, grandson killed in Amritsar mishap
AMRITSAR: A truck loaded with gas cylinders, overturned near Rayya village, 35 km from here, killing an elderly couple and their four-year-old grandson on Monday.
The deceased are Bhupinder Singh ,57, his wife Balwinder Kaur ,55, and grandson Gurlal Singh, all residents of Rayya. The victims were on the way to their home on a scooter. The truck driver, coming from the opposite side, suddenly lost balance and overturned.
Eyewitnesses told that the victims died on the spot as they were crushed by the heavy cylinders. The driver fled from the spot.
A police party reached the spot and send the bodies for postmortem. A case has been registered against unidentified driver.
‘TRY TO SORT OUT DISPUTES AMICABLY’ Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said people should try to sort out their issues mutually at panchayat level.
The CM was addressing a gathering during an Open Session for public hearing at Panipat and said cases pending with courts should not be raised at the CM window and the Janta Darbar.
At the Janta Darbar in Panipat, the chief minister resolved 127 complaints on the spot.
EMPHASISES WORKING FOR A CLEAN INDIA
The CM, who also launched a cleanliness drive from Panipat, said the country lagged behind in cleanliness .
“Over the past three years, this government has done more for cleanliness than what previous governments did in 70 years,” Khattar claimed.
Earlier, the CM also paid floral tributes to Mahatama Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shashtri.
