PANCHKULA : Police on Tuesday will question Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan as part of their ongoing probe into the August 25 Panchkula violence. She has been asked to appear before local police at 10am on Tuesday pertaining to the conspiracy hatched at the Sirsa-based dera to incite violence in Panchkula.

As many as 35 people were killed and 250 were injured in Panchkula soon after the dera chief was convicted by a special CBI court on August 25.

The ongoing interrogation of Honeypreet, adopted daughter of the dera chief, has found that she was part of the meeting that took place on August 17 in which planning was made to spread arson in Panchkula.

The police suspect that Vipassana might be in the know of the conspiracy. It is for the first time that she will be questioned regarding violence. She was earlier grilled by the Sirsa police in which the questioning was then limited mainly to Honeypreet’s whereabouts. custody got over on Monday, she will be produced in court on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said they will seek her further remand for at least for 10 days as she is not cooperating in the ongoing investigation.

“We will request the court to grant her custody for more days as we are yet to dig out more crucial information in connection with the violence,” said a police official

He said in case they get her further custody, they questioned her along with Vipassana.

The police have claimed that after the meeting at the dera on August 17, Honeypreet had handed ₹1.25 crore to dera chief’s personal assistant (PA) Rakesh Kumar, who is also in police custody, to hand over the money to dera’s Panchkula-based functionaries to use it to incite violence.
