PATHANKOT: Rajya Sabha MP Shwait Malik, during a press conference here on Monday, said that BJP has always worked for the development of India. “In the past 70 years, Congress has selfishly tailored schemes for its vested interests,” he said.

He added that Gurdaspur has better chances of development if voters give mandate in favour of BJP candidate Swaran Salaria. Malik said that only PM Modi government can complete developmental works undertaken by late MLA Vinod Khanna.

“SAD-BJP candidate Swaran Salaria can bring in big projects for Gurdaspur,” he said.

Taking a dig at Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar, Malik said, “If Jakhar had carried out developmental work in his native parliamentary constituency, Ferozepur, then he wouldn’t have been rejected by the voters.”

“Jakhar and his family keep changing their constituency as they have always failed to solve people’s problems everywhere. He might turn to Jammu and Kashmir after losing at Gurdaspur,” he added.

“Before forming government, Captain Amarinder Singh had sworn on ‘Gutka’ that he will end drug menace within four weeks of coming to power, but even today, drugs are being sold openly across Punjab,” he claimed.
