HC DIRECTS CBI TO FILE REPORT IN TWO WEEKS

- Saurabh Chauhan

SHIMLA: Unhappy with the slow pace of probe and hazy status reports in the Kotkhai rape and murder case, Himachal Pradesh high court on Wednesday pulled up the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and gave it two weeks to file the detailed status report.

The court said CBI should tell whether it would be able to crack this case or not. “You (CBI) have not revealed everything in the status report. It seems you are clueless about this case,” the court observed.

Earlier, the CBI submitted a status report in a sealed cover with some new facts in the case. The CBI counsel, Anshul Bansal, however, said the agency has made progress in the case and everything is in a case diary.

The bench comprising acting chief justice Sanjay Karol and justice Sandeep Sharma observed that the CBI should tell the court about its actual progress.

The CBI also informed the court that narco test reports of the accused are supposed to come on October 16. The CBI counsel, Anshul Bansal, had told mediapersons that the CBI was moving in the right direction. He said a supplementary status report will be filed before the court by the next date.
