280 farmers fined for stubble burning in Sirsa, Hisar dists
HISAR: The Sirsa and Hisar administrations have slapped ₹5 lakh penalty from farmers for stubble burning.
In Sirsa, district revenue officer (DRO) Naurang Dass said the local administration found 276 stubble burning incidents and recovered ₹4.87 lakh penalty from the farmers.
"Officials, who are keeping eye on stubble burning, found a total of 276 incidents of stubble burning. We are in the process of sending notices to the rest of 95 farmers and recover the fine from them," DRO Dass said.
Hisar deputy commissioner Nikhil Gajraj said, "The district administration is keeping a strict vigil on stubble burning incidents and identified five farmers for defying ban on stubble burning at Lalpura, Sainipura and Manda villages of Hansi block.”

PENALTY UNDER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT
Sirsa district revenue officer Naurang Dass said penalty on farmers is being imposed under the Pollution Control Act, 1981. If a farmer burns stubble on less than 2 acres, he will be imposed ₹2,500 fine, while it will be ₹5,000 for land measuring 2 to 5 acres and ₹15,000 for land above 5 acres. Earlier, the Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC) of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University had detected more than 800 incidents of stubble burning in Fatehabad district alone.
