JAIPUR:THE Jodhpur police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a married woman outside her house late on Tuesday. Another accused in the case is absconding, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place late on Tuesday, when the victim was sleeping outside her house in Jodhpur.

“The husband and the rest of the family members of the 35-year-old woman were inside the house while she was sleeping outside. It was at this time that two men came on a motorcycle and sexually assaulted her,” said sub inspector Bhim Singh from Pratap Nagar police station, Jodhpur.

The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera near the house, police said.

“When the family members of the victim came to the police station on Wednesday morning to register the complaint, they told us that one of the buildings near their house has a CCTV camera installed in it. We got clues about the men from the footage,” said Singh.

Police said the two men have been identified as Aman (19) and Shiva (23), both of whom were residents of the same locality.

“We have arrested Aman on Wednesday night from his house after investigating and analyzing the CCTV footage. Shiva is absconding and a search is on for him,” said Singh.

A case of gang-rape has been registered against the two men at the Pratap Nagar police station, police said.

“Both the men are daily wage workers like is the family of the victim. We are further investigating the case and trying to trace Shiva,” said Singh.

Efforts are on to determine whether the two men have previous criminal record, police said.
