Saurav Ghosal outclasses Mossad to enter final

MUMBAI: National champion Saurav Ghosal stormed into the final of the $50,000 CCI Internatio­nal JSW Indian Squash Circuit by outclassin­g his second-seeded Egyptian rival Omar Mossad 3-1 in the semi finals on Thursday.

Ghosal, ranked 21st in the world, dropped the first game against his Egyptian opponent, 5-11 before taking the next three games 11-4, 11-8, 11-7 to advance to final.in the first semis, Swiss fifth seed Nicolas Mueller beat Ramit Tandon 11-6, 11-8, 11-7.

GHOSH, SATHIYAN TOP QUALIFYING GROUPS MAGDEBURG: India’s premier table tennis players Soumyajit Ghosh and G Sathiyan topped their respective groups in the ITTF World Tour Platinum German Open. Sathiyan beat Hong Kong’s Man Ho Kwan 9-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-3, 8-11, 11-3 first and then beat Romania’s Ovidiu Ionescu 13-11, 8-11, 11-8, 3-11, 3-11, 11-8, 14 -12. Sathiyan did one better, upsetting Jang Woojin 4-0. Ghosh beat Chile’s Alfonso Olave 4-1 and Quentin Robinot 4-0 to enter the main draw.

SEHWAG ON NADA APPEAL PANEL

NEWDELHI: Virender Sehwag and former Delhi player Vinay Lamba have been made members of the Anti-doping Appeal Panel (ADAP) of the NADA in a rare instance of cricketers being roped in for such committees.

Sehwag and Lamba are in the six-member panel headed by retired judge R V Easwar.
