Three arrested for usurping govt school land in Tarn Taran

TARN TARAN: The Patti police have arrested three people for allegedly usurping government school land in Kairon village, 18km from the district headquarte­rs, on Saturday.

Station house officer Rajesh Kakkar said a case under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestl­y inducing delivery of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 668 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against 12 accused, of which three have been arrested.

According to the FIR, the land was encroached upon in 1992 and the then tehsildar, patwari and kanungo were also involved in transferri­ng the land in the name of the accused.

The accused are: Lakhbir Singh, Gurbaksh Singh, Davinder Dingh, Manjit Singh, Harnek Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Gurinder Singh, Gurnam Singh, Surjit Singh, Parkash Chand (patwari), Udham Singh (kanungo) and Gurcharan Singh Hundal (tehsildar).

Gurbaksh, Harnek and Manjit Singh of Kairon village have already been arrested.

In his complaint district education officer, secondary (DEO-S), Nirmal Singh Bhangu alleged that 39 acres of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa High School, Kairon, were usurped by the accused.
