Another suspect detained in Mohali

Mohali:officers from the special cell of the Punjab Police, Amritsar, rounded-up Sukhpal alias Raju, a resident of Majitha village, during a raid at a flat in House Fed Housing Society in Phase 10 on Monday.

Sources said Sukhpal was a suspect in the Vipan Sharma murder case as he was looking to provide shelter to the four main accused.

They added that Sukhpal was planning to stay put in Mohali for long.

Over 30 personnel from Amritsar police — in plain clothes and in 10 vehicles — raided the flat in the society.

Sources said the police team was anticipating that the accused in Sharma murder could be caught at the flat.

Maninder, the tenant at the flat which was raided, is a relative of Sukhpal and is in Haryana. Maninder told HT, “Sukhpal called me on Saturday, where he said he was coming to Chandigarh to buy a car and will stay at my flat. I told him that I was out of town and the key was with the guard outside the flat.”
