CBI takes over probe into

FARIDABAD: A team of sleuths from the Central Investigat­ion Bureau (CBI) on Friday visited the spot where a Haryana police officer’s body was found on April 28, 2016.

A case with regard to the alleged suicide of ASI Mahavir Singh was registered four days ago. The CBI sleuths had visited Singh’s family and the Ballabgarh Sadar police station on Thursday.

“A senior CBI officer visited the police station on Thursday and took the records related to the suicide,” Hansraj, SHO, Ballabgarh Sadar, said.

“The officer visited our house on Thursday and we were assured that truth will prevail and justice will be done to us,” Chanchal Devi, the widow, said.

In her complaint, Devi held senior police officers responsibl­e

for forcing Singh into a situation due to which he had to commit suicide, by consuming a poisonous substance.

Ballabgarh Sadar police had registered a case of abetment to suicide against ten officers, including then DCP (traffic) of Gurugram, Vinod Kaushik, then

DSP (vigilance) Satya, DSP Atma Ram, then SHO Jagdish Prasad, then SHO Hardeep Hooda, SHO Babu Lal, accountant­s Pawan and Kulwant Munshi, ASI Vikas and his brother, Vijay.
