- Neeraj Mohan

KARNAL: Dissatisfied with the police probe into the murder of three siblings whose bodies were found in Panchkula’s Morni forest last month, the children’s mother, along with the residents of Sarsa village, met chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar at his Chandigarh residence on Monday and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation in the case.

The children’s mother, Suman Malik, and Sarsa residents told the CM that even after three weeks, the Kurukshetra police has so far failed to find the reason behind the murder which was allegedly committed by the children’s uncle Jagdeep Malik.

Suman, in her complaint to the chief minister, demanded a CBI investigation in the case, which she said was necessitated to find out whether her husband Sonu Malik was also involved in the murder of her children, as earlier claimed by accused Jagdeep.

“The police even failed to conduct the polygraph test of Sonu, the children’s father and Reena, the wife of the accused Jagdeep,” said Suman.

The Kurukshetra police have also failed to get time from the forensic science laboratory (FSL), Madhuban, for carrying out the polygraph tests. “We have already written to FSL Madhuban but we will get the letter for the time of the test in the next two days,” said inspector Deepender Singh, who is investigating the case.

Over the delay in conducting the test, the police said that it was up to the forensic science laboratory to decide the schedule of the test.

CM HAS ASSURED TO CONSTITUTE A SIT,

SAYS SARPANCH “Following our request, the chief minister assured to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under an inspector general of police (IGP) level officer within a month to investigate the case,” Sarsa village Sarpanch Karambir Singh, who was also present in the meeting, told Hindustan Times.

“The chief minister also said the case will be handed over to the CBI if the SIT of Haryana police fails to solve the case,” he added.

The bodies of Sameer 11, Simran, 8, and Samar, 4, were recovered from the Morni forest in Panchkula on November 21, two days after they went missing from the village.

The children’s uncle has been arrested in the case and sent to police remand by the local court.
