GNDU to involve students in syllabus amendment process ›

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University has decided to involve meritoriou­s students in the process of amending syllabuses of various classes.

The syndicate of the university has already approved this decision.

The university will become the first university of the country to involve students in the matters of syllabus.

Vice-chancellor (V-C) Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that the decision of involving students will ultimately benefit the students at large.

The process of amending the syllabuses of various classes has already been started and they will be implemente­d from the next academic session.

The vice-chancellor said earlier the process was restricted to department heads and subject experts.

“Before board of studies meetings, a meeting with meritoriou­s students of the university will be conducted in which students will represent their views regarding syllabi. This decision has already been welcomed by the academicia­ns, institutio­ns and employers of various organisati­ons,” the V-C added.

The syndicate also gave approval to the decision that PHD scholars will now be appearing before a panel of experts from across the country..
