GURGAON: An obsession for bodybuilding led to the murder of the executive director of Manesarbased automotive company Nagata India, the police said on Wednesday.

The police on Tuesday arrested Rahul alias Lambu and Ajay alias Bhunda in connection with the murder of 53-year-old Ramesh Vij, who was found stabbed to death near CCA school in Sector 5 on August 30.

Suspect Rahul told the police that he wanted to buy body-building supplements and his family refused to give him money.

He along with his accomplice, Ajay, planned a robbery during which the murder took place, the police said on Wednesday.

“Rahul wanted to buy bodybuilding supplements and he had no money. His accomplice Ajay agreed to his robbery plan to make some extra money. The duo had purchased sharp-edged weapons for the purpose,” said Bijender Singh. He said Rahul has a criminal record and has served time in Bhondsi jail.

On August 30, while they were planning the crime, they spotted Vij coming out of the ATM after withdrawing cash and walking towards his car.

“The two had knives with them and as soon as Vij sat in the car, both of them forcibly entered the vehicle and sat beside him. One of them sat in the rear while the other sat next to Vij and held him at knifepoint. The duo asked him to drive and when they reached near CCA school, they asked him to turn left whereas he insisted on turning right. This led to a quarrel after which they stabbed him,” the probe officer said.
