Cong and Akali leaders fear coming among people. They know people are fed up with them and will raise questions on lack of development. BHAGWANT MANN, AAP convener

JALANDHAR : Senior leaders of the Congress and the SAD-BJP have not turned up for campaigning in the municipal corporation (MC) polls so far, but the AAP’S state convener Bhagwant Mann launched a campaign for candidates here on Wednesday.

He questioned the absence of senior leaders of the Congress and Akalis from campaigning in the polls and asked people not to cast vote for the candidates of these parties. He asked people to vote for the candidates, who are contesting on issues of development and to end corruption.

Mann held meetings with workers and addressed people in various wards across the district on Wednesday and appealed to people to vote for the AAP.

“None of the governments has developed your areas. Sewerage system, poor civic amenities and dirty water all have been ignored by the Congress and the SAD-BJP for decades. Let’s give a chance to the AAP. We will work for the welfare of the people and localities,” Mann said.

Mann, launching an attack on the Congress and the SAD said, they both have looted the state and the common man. “Congress and Akali leaders feared coming among people and decided not to campaign this MC polls. They know that people are fed up with their fake promises and will raise questions of poor development. But, our party is made by common man that is why I am here among our people,” Mann said.

Even the four Congress MLAS Rajinder Beri of Jalandhar Central and Sushil Rinku of Jalandhar West, Pargat Singh of Jalandhar Cantonment and Avtar Singh Junior Henry Jalandhar North MLA have not started campaigning for MC candidates in their respected constituencies.

He was surprised that the Congress has announced that CM Amarinder Singh will not be campaigning in the elections. Even Parkash Singh Badal used to campaign for MC polls when he was CM, he said. AAP is contesting 42 seats out of 80 total seats.
