MEHBOOBA HAILS INDIA’S STAND ON JERUSALEM

JAMMU: Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday took to Twitter to express pride in India’s stand at the United Nations UN for voting against the United States’ recognitio­n of Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel. “Very proud to see that India joined over 100 countries at the UN to vote against recognisin­g Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel. This vote further reaffirms our stand and support to Palestine,” she tweeted on Friday.

Despite threats of retaliatio­n from Washington, India voted in favour of the resolution passed through majority in the UN General Assembly on Thursday, which calls upon the US to withdraw its decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel capital. The resolution, tabled by Turkey and Yemen, supported by a slew of Muslim and NAM countries, was approved by 128 votes ,two-thirds of 193-member UNGA. PHAGWARA : Over 20 people were injured in a collision between a truck and a private bus on the Phagwara- Hoshiarpur road near Jagjitpur village here on Friday morning. Bus driver Partap Singh and truck driver Gurdeep Singh were seriously injured and were referred to Ludhiana DMC from the civil hospital,police said.

Over two dozen passengers have been admitted to the civil hospital here. Some passengers, who had suffered minor injuries, were discharged from the hospital after first aid.as per the police, private bus (PB-10-N9744) on way to Hoshiarpur from Ludhiana and truck (PB-07-AL6852) was coming from the Hoshiarpur side when this accident took place.

The passengers, who were injured in the accident, were identified as Rakha Rani, Jagtar Singh, Kamal Kumar, Santokh Kaur, Ravi, Vijay, Shankar, Harjinder, Neerja and some others.

Police said that most of the passengers are from Hoshiarpur and their families have been informed about the mishap. Police are yet to register a case in the matter.
