SAD (AMRITSAR) ENDORSES OVERSEAS GURDWARA BAN

MUKTSAR: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on Sunday welcomed the resolve of many gurdwaras in Canada, UK and the US to ban Indian officials. They said this on the sidelines of a political conference on Maghi mela in Muktsar. The outfit had also held a similar event on Jor Mela at Fatehgarh Sahib in defiance of the Akal Takht’s edict.

SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Maan said, “Our party follows the principle of ‘miri piri’ laid down by sixth Sikh master Guru Hargobind, who had got the Akal Takht constructe­d. As per the principle, religion and politics go together and can’t be separated.” He criticised RSS head Mohan Bhagwat for terming all Sikhs as Hindus.

SATIKAR COMMITTEE PROTESTS RALLIES Members of Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Satikar committee held a protest against the political conference­s. The police stopped them outside the city where they blocked the road and raised slogans. The members said these events should be used for raising religious issues.

The Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Sunday organised a blood donation camp on the occasion. Party district president Jagdeep Sandhu said, “Only religious issues should be discussed on such occasions.”
