FATEHABAD:FOUR persons, including a woman, her son and sister, were arrested in Fatehabad for allegedly honeytrapping a Hisarbased man and demanding ₹5 lakh from him.

The accused have already extorted ₹60,000 from the man, the police said. The accused were identified Renu (42), her son Sunny (23), Renu’s sister Shalu (38) and Sunny’s friend Sandeep Kumar (25). The Haryana Police this month have claimed to busted at least six gangs who after laying a honeytrap lodged false rape cases against men to extort money from them.

Fatehabad DSP Jagdish Kajal said, “On January 27, we got a complaint from Ashok Kumar Sethi, a bank employee, that he was coming to Fatehabad for some work and was kidnapped by the two youths.”

“Sethi alleged the accused took him to a place in Fatehabad and withdrew ₹40,000 using his ATM card. He claimed that they later took him to Hisar and demanded more ₹20,000 from him with a signed blank cheque,” he said.

The police started investigating the matter and later Sethi revealed that the four were demanding ₹5 lakh from him after having shot some obscene photographs and videos with Renu. The DSP said, “After verification, the police got some leads about the accused and arrested them from Fatehabad. The police registered a case under section 342 (wrongful confinement), 384 (extortion), 389 (putting person in fear of accusation of offence, in order to commit extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).”
