Woman, son among four ar­rested for hon­ey­trap­ping man

FATEHABAD:FOUR per­sons, in­clud­ing a woman, her son and sis­ter, were ar­rested in Fatehabad for al­legedly hon­ey­trap­ping a His­ar­based man and de­mand­ing ₹5 lakh from him.

The ac­cused have al­ready ex­torted ₹60,000 from the man, the po­lice said. The ac­cused were iden­ti­fied Renu (42), her son Sunny (23), Renu’s sis­ter Shalu (38) and Sunny’s friend San­deep Kumar (25). The Haryana Po­lice this month have claimed to busted at least six gangs who af­ter lay­ing a hon­ey­trap lodged false rape cases against men to ex­tort money from them.

Fatehabad DSP Jagdish Ka­jal said, “On Jan­uary 27, we got a com­plaint from Ashok Kumar Sethi, a bank em­ployee, that he was com­ing to Fatehabad for some work and was kid­napped by the two youths.”

“Sethi al­leged the ac­cused took him to a place in Fatehabad and with­drew ₹40,000 us­ing his ATM card. He claimed that they later took him to Hisar and de­manded more ₹20,000 from him with a signed blank cheque,” he said.

The po­lice started in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mat­ter and later Sethi re­vealed that the four were de­mand­ing ₹5 lakh from him af­ter hav­ing shot some ob­scene pho­to­graphs and videos with Renu. The DSP said, “Af­ter ver­i­fi­ca­tion, the po­lice got some leads about the ac­cused and ar­rested them from Fatehabad. The po­lice reg­is­tered a case under sec­tion 342 (wrong­ful con­fine­ment), 384 (ex­tor­tion), 389 (putting per­son in fear of ac­cu­sa­tion of of­fence, in order to com­mit ex­tor­tion), 506 (crim­i­nal in­tim­i­da­tion) and 120-B (crim­i­nal con­spir­acy).”
