Three carrying gangster’s body in car held at Karnal

KARNAL: Police on Thursday arrested three persons for allegedly carrying the body of a gangster in a car to dump it somewhere.

The matter came to light when their car overturned on the National Highway 1 in Sector 14on the outskirts of Karnal town after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

The gangster Rohit (27) alias Jalebi of Machri village in Sonepat district was wanted in several cases of robbery and theft. When locals gathered to rescue the car occupants, they saw the body in the vehicle and informed the police.

The accused were identified as Sonu and Parmod of Sonepat town and Sumit of Gohana (Sonepat district). Their fourth accomplice managed to escape.

Karnal civil lines station house officer (SHO) Mohan Lal said soon after the accident they took the car occupants and the body to hospital.

The doctors said Rohit did not die due to accident and had died several hours ago, he said, adding that the three were taken into custody. The police have informed their Sonepat counterpar­ts about this.

“During interrogat­ion, it was found that they had killed Rohit and they were going to dump his body. The Sonepat police will conduct further investigat­ion in the case and we will hand over the three to them after treatment,” the SHO said.

He said they are collecting details about the cases registered against them and investigat­ion was going on.

Yadvendra Singh a relative of Rohit, who came to collect the body, claimed that the accused had kidnapped Rohit from Delhi and murdered him.
