ANOTHER KASHMIRI YOUTH BEATEN UP IN HARYANA

AMBALA: A student from Kashmir was attacked by youths at a private university at Mullana, 50 km from Ambala. The incident occurred at Maharishi Markandesh­war University on Wednesday.

Mullana police station SHO Rajesh Kumar and university security in-charge Manbir Singh said the complainan­t, Mudasir Ahmed, who is studying for a bachelor’s degree in radiology, and Krishan Kumar, a second year bachelor of pharmacy student, had an argument before he beat him up. Kumar was placed under suspension soon after the altercatio­n.

Mudasir, who hails from Sopore, said Kumar used to intimidate him and pass remarks about Kashmiris to which he objected.

He, however, said he did not want any police case and was satisfied with the action taken by the university authoritie­s.

Countering NC members, Lone said, “There is nothing new and such incidents are taking place for the last 20 years. Don’t jeopardise the security of other Kashmiris studying in institutio­ns across the country.”

Accusing the state government of failing to safeguard the security of students studying in other states, NC and Congress members staged a walkout.
