NDA govt has no economic sense, says Sharad Yadav

CHANDIGARH : Former Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha member Sharad Yadav said on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (Bjp)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre has no sense of economics.

Yadav, who was in Chandigarh to take part in ‘Sanjhi Virasat Bachao’ and meet likeminded people ahead of floating a new party, said while referring to the government’s demonetisation and GST moves.

“Traders and small businesses have suffered badly because of both the decisions. They (BJP) flare up communal tension.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be fought on economic issues,” he said during a media interaction,

On forming a new party, he said he will make an announcement soon but saying at the same time that many political parties are a threat to the democracy.

He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to deliver on the promises he made before the 2014 general elections. “He promised 2 crore jobs to the youth every year. Where are the jobs?” asked Yadav.

The former Rajya Sabha member said the country is in the middle of an emergency-like situation created by the BJP government.

"One emergency was visible and we fought it out. Once again the country is passing through an emergency-like situation but it's not visible," Yadav said.

Yadav was disqualified from the Rajya Sabha on December 4 after he parted ways with Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.

The 'Sanjhi Virasat Bachao' program, Yadav said was aimed to bring unity among opposition political parties against the NDA. As many as 19 national and regional political parties have come together so far, he said.
