- HT Correspondent

JAMMU: Following Sunjuwan terror attack, security forces launched massive search operations in and around Domana army camp on Akhnoor road on Tuesday morning after a suspicious movement.

“Searches are on by the selective teams from army, police and special operations group. We are investigating the matter,” said a senior police officer supervising the police operations.

He further said that given the Sunjuwan attack, he could not afford to take the suspicious movement lightly.

“Alert has been optimised and army is also conducting searches,” he said.

He, however, said that there was no contact with the suspected elements so far.

He said, “Two motorcycleborne terrorists were believed to have approached the main gate of the camp at Domana on Jammu-akhnoor road at around 4.30 am and fired on the sentry post after security officials signalled them to stop, prompting retaliation.”

Defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand, however, said that he cannot confirm the incident.

Heavily-armed terrorists of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-mohammad (JEM) group struck an Army camp in Sunjuwan area in Jammu on Saturday morning, triggering a gunbattle in which six soldiers and a civilian died.

Three terrorists were also killed by the security forces.

On Monday, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Jammu to take stock of the situation following the attack.

She blamed Pakistan for the attack and said it will pay the price for the "misadventure".
