SHIMLA : Aiming to effectively implement the promises made by the party while campaigning for the state assembly elections, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has set up a cabinet subcommittee to oversee the implementation of its vision document — adopted as policy document of the government.

Thakur had announced to adopt the vision document as government policy document after taking over the office on December 27.

A cabinet subcommittee, to be headed by the education minister and Shimla legislator Suresh Bhardwaj, includes forest minister Govind Thakur and industries minister Bikram Singh Thakur.

The committee will meet at regular intervals to ensure the successive execution of the vision document.

The secretary of general administration department will be the member secretary of the committee.

“We will make sure that the promises made in the manifesto are implemented properly,” said education minister Suresh Bhardwaj.

Government has already set up ‘Gudiya’ helpline for women and Hoshiyar Singh helpline, named after Hoshiyar Singh, a forest guard who was killed by timber smugglers at CM’S home segment at Seraj.

In the wake of increased crime against women, the party has promised to introduce women police stations in each district headquarters. But nothing has

been done in the matter so far.

BJP manifesto also stated the government will have zero tolerance for corruption and all its legislators will announce their assets but they have not done anything yet.

Party had also promised to set up a battalion of ex-servicemen in the name of country’s first highest gallantry award winner – Param Vir Chakra recipient Major Somanth Sharma to curb the drug menace in the state. Major Somnath Sharma hailed from Dadh village in Kangra district.

Election manifesto mentioned setting up a centre at the panchyat level to empower women. BJP had also announced

free pilgrimage — Char Dham Yatra for the senior citizens.

The vision document emphasises upon developing tourism in the state to generate more selfemployment. It will give impetus to home stay tourism in the rural areas. Government had promised electric fencing for the farmers as well.

The interviews for grade-3 and grade-4 jobs in the government sector are to be eliminated.

With more than ₹46,500 crore debt on the state, government has promised to establish an expenditure commission and finance panel to calculate the revenue deficit along with introducing a panel of finance experts to attract more investment.
