SHIMLA:CENTRAL Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday has filed a chargehseet against then superintendent of police (SP) Shimla DW Negi in connection with the custodial death of Suraj — accused in Kotkhai rape and murder case.

Negi has been charged under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (removing the evidences)and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A local court in Shimla extended the judicial custody of suspended inspector general (IG) Zahur Zaidi and seven other policemen till February 23 in the custodial death of the accused.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a chargesheet in the lower court against Zaidi and seven other cops except Negi on November 25 , who was arrested on September 16.

“After the formation of the special investigation team (SIT), the then IG Zahur Zaidi, Shimla superintendent of police (SP) DW Negi, Theog deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Manoj Joshi and other accused police officers had entered into a criminal conspiracy of falsely implicating Suraj Singh and others in the Kotkhai rape and murder case,” states CBI’S November 25 chargesheet.

According to the chargesheet submitted earlier, the SIT had arrested Suraj and four others on July 13 — a week after the girl’s body was found — even though there was no evidence.
