STATE CONG CHIEF ASHOK TANWAR, HIS SUPPORTERS PLANNING TO PROTEST DETAINED BY JIND POLICE

KARNAL/HISAR: The Hisar police detained workers of the opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), who were on their way to show black flags to Shah, near Ikkas village of the district.

They were later taken to a ground at Rajthal village. Party workers, including the district unit chief, were also detained in Panipat for showing black flags to BJP leaders. The Jind police had earlier detained Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar with his supporters for planning to protest against Shah.

The district administrations remained on their toes with heavy police and paramilitary deployment in Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad to prevent any untoward incident. There was strict vigil in Narnond area of Hisar, which is considered a stronghold of opposition leader Abhay Chautala and is close to Jind.

INLD leader Parminder Singh Dhull said they are protesting against the BJP government over the Sutlej-yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue.

Also, hundreds of anganwadi workers wearing black suits and scarfs reached Kurukshetra to protest against the BJP for not accepting their longpending demands. They gathered at a stadium in the morning but were not allowed to leave till the biker rally was flagged off. They latter burnt chief minister Khattar’s effigy.
