SIX IAS OFFICERS SHIFTED; MITRA IS NEW DIRECTOR PUBLIC RELATIONS
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government on Tuesday transferred six IAS officers. Anindita Mitra, the 2007-batch IAS officer, will be the new director, information and public relations. She will be the first woman IAS officer to hold this post.
Mitra is third director to be appointed in the department in less than one year tenure of the Congress government. She would continue to hold the charge of director, food and civil supplies.
Chief minister’s principal secretary Gurkirat Kirpal, who was also holding the charge of director, information and public relations, will now be secretary of the department, besides his other earlier postings.
Kumar Rahul would now be new secretary-cum-director of the mining department replacing Amit Dhaka. Rahul would also hold the additional charge of Rupnagar divisional commissioner, relieving Veerendra Kumar Meena of additional charge.
Rajat Aggarwal, who was managing director of Punjab Small Industries Export Corporation Ltd, will also hold the additional charge of chief executive officer Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, relieving Rakesh Verma.
Balwinder Singh has been posted as state transport commissioner, replacing Tanu Kashyap, who will now be joint development commissioner, integrated rural development, and commissioner of the MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act).
