34YEAROLD MAN’S BODY FOUND IN PHAGWARA

PHAGWARA : Body of a 34-year-old man was found from near Nangal Majha village in Phagwara on Wednesday. Police said deceased Bishram Prashad was a migrant labourer and native of Jharkhand and appeared to have been killed with sharp-edged weapons and bricks. The deceased is survived by wife and a minor child.

Police said they found the body in a pool of blood, after Kuldip Singh, a localite, found the body lying in an empty plot at 7am on Wednesday.

Inquiry officer SHO Sadar Lakhbir Singh said during preliminar­y investigat­ion it came to the fore that deceased had attended a marriage of his friend Parminder Singh’s daughter on Tuesday night. After returning from the function, he had a fight with one of his friends, who allegedly killed him. The SHO said the accused is yet to be identified but a case under Sections 302 and 201 has been registered. SINGAPORE: Three Indians have been jailed in Singapore for their involvemen­t in consensual sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl in 2016, a media report said on today. Gill Gurjant Singh, 25, and Surjeet Singh, 29, were each sentenced to 15 months in prison for the crime, The Straits Times reported.

Jugraj Singh, 33, was jailed for eight months for committing an indecent act on the Singaporea­n minor. Offenders convicted of having consensual sexual intercours­e with a minor below 14 years old can be jailed for up to 20 years and fined or caned, according to the report.
