Faction of Jats to start dharna in Hisar today
THE COMMUNITY SEEKS RESERVATION AND TAKING BACK OF CASES REGISTERED DURING THE 2016 QUOTA STIR
HISAR : A faction within the All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) plans to start a fresh stir from Monday in support of the community’s demands for reservation and taking back of cases registered against men from the community registered during the 2016 quota protest.
Daljeet Panghal, Hisar president of AIJASS told HT, “A meeting of the Hisar unit of the AIJASS was held in Bhagan village. It was decided to start a fresh agitation from Mayyar village near the Ramayan-mayyar railway track. We have given enough time to the state government to take back cases and for reservation. Our demands have not been met.”
He claimed that the AIJASS has set a deadline of February 25 for the government to announce the release of jailed Jat youths, but the establishment had not acted.
“We plan to hold a three-day peaceful dharna. If even then, the government fails to respond, we will step up our agitation across the state,” Panghal added.
DSP, headquarters, Mohammad Jamal, said, “The Haryana Armed Police (HAP) and Haryana police will be on alert. No one will be allowed to block railway and roads. We have adequate police force to ensure that law and order is maintained.”
He added that they will work to ensure that peace is maintained.
