THE COURT REPRIMANDED THE SHO AND ASKED HIM TO HAND OVER HIS MOBILE TO THE COURT STAFF FOR INVESTIGATION. THE COP REPORTEDLY HANDED OVER HIS MOBILE AND DENIED THAT HE WAS RECORDING COURT PROCEEDINGS

KAITHAL: The Kaithal police station in-charge was reprimanded by the city district court for allegedly recording the court proceedings on his mobile phone. Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Amit Sharma took exception to Kaithal station house officer (SHO) Ram Chander capturing an audio clip of the court proceedings in his mobile.

The court took a serious view of this episode and reprimanded the SHO and asked him to hand over his mobile to the court staff for investigation. The cop reportedly handed over his mobile and denied that he was recording court proceedings.

Soon after getting the information, two DSPS of Kaithal Police Satish Gautam and Tarun Saini rushed to the court and tried to sort out the issue by involving the District Attorney and senior advocates.

The matter was also brought to the notice of District and Sessions Judge MM Dhonchak.

The Kaithal SP Astha Modi, however, did not respond after repeated attempts and DSP Satish Gautam, who was also present in the court, said that he did not know what action had been taken. Whereas police officials, on the condition of anonymity, said that the police office had tendered an apology in written to the court but the court staff still haven’t returned his mobile as yet.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the SP held a meeting with other officers regarding action taken against the cop.

This is not for the first time that a cop had to face court action. Earlier, an IPS officer was told by the Kaithal district court to sit down after he appeared for a hearing in civil dress on January 11.

Sumer Partap Singh, former SP of Kaithal, had came to record his statement in a case in the court of district and sessions judge MM Dhonchak but the officer was not wearing the police uniform.
