JAMMU: A young medico from the temple city Jammu has donated the entire alimony of ₹45 lakh received during her divorce proceedings to the Prime Minister’s

Swachh Bharat Kosh.

With the dual purpose to cleanse India of filth and to teach a lesson to rich families, who deceive others by marrying off their drug-addict sons, she fought a long legal battle and has decided to donate the money to support the Union government’s ’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

“I donated the entire divorce alimony of ₹45 lakh to the Swachh Bharat Kosh,” said Dr Megha Mahajan, a dentist by profession.

SERVED IN HER GURU’S HOSPITAL

She belongs to an affluent and influential family and is the daughter of the late Kewal Gupta. The family owns brick kilns in Jammu.

“I did my schooling from Delhi Public School in Jammu and then did bachelor of dental sciences from Sundarnagar in Himachal Pradesh in 2010,” she said about her educational and professional background.

She informed that she contested her case of divorce for five long years while working in a 500-bedded hospital of her spiritual guru in Haridwar. Eventually, the divorce suit was decided in her favour and the court awarded an alimony of ₹45 lakh in her favour.

Her family comprising her mother, two younger sisters and a younger brother Gaurav Mahajan stood by her in the difficult times, she says.

Though she didn’t want to discuss her failed marriage, she definitely wanted to teach a lesson to the family of her former in-laws.

“It is a lesson to such families, who deceive others by marrying off their drug-addict sons. They only understand the language of money,” she said.
