THREE DEPOSE IN LANGAH CASE, NEXT HEARING ON MARCH 26

GURDASPUR:THREE witnesses — a doctor, a bank manager and an ASI — recorded their statements in the court of Gurdaspur additional district and sessions judge Prem Kumar in a hearing in the rape allegation case against former Akali minister, Sucha Singh Langah.

Police had brought Langah, who is lodged in Patiala jail, to court . The next date of hearing is March 26. On February 28, the complainan­t had backed out from her accusation that Langah had been raping her since 2009 under the threat of death and had sold her properties fraudulent­ly.

The complainan­t, a classmate of Langah’s daughter and a constable with the Pathankot vigilance bureau, had told the court that she had been forced by higher authoritie­s in the department to sign blank papers, adding that she had nothing to do with Sucha Singh Langah. She also said she was not the woman shown in the video with Langah.

The doctor who deposed, Dr Chetna, had examined the complainan­t; the bank manager, Ajay Kumar, was posted at the branch of the cooperativ­e bank in Langah, where the complainan­t operates her bank account. The third witness was ASI Jaswinder Singh.
