MAN ACCUSED OF ₹250 CR FRAUD HELD IN BHOPAL

GURGAON: A man accused of defrauding investors across the country of over ₹250 crore, including several in Sohna and Rewari, was arrested from Bhopal after a sixmonth-long operation by the economic offences wing of Gurgaon police from Bhopal on Sunday. The accused, identified as Sanjay Mewada, had opened over 100 offices across the country and took fixed deposits of ₹5,000 from lakhs of depositors after promising to double and triple the money in 3 to 4 years. The accused was arrested from his hideout in Bhopal where he had been staying for the past several months, said officials of the economic offences wing. Inspector Madan Singh, in-charge, EOW, said that the accused was tracked after a sustained technical and human surveillan­ce as he was not using mobile phones.
