CBSE PAPER LEAK: HAVE SOME BALANCE

-

It is true that the question paper leak is unfortunate and it will be tough to give the exam again. Yet, my question to students is that when you study, are you gaining knowledge or cramming things? At the end of the day, it is okay if you have to take the exam again. For this, your concepts have to be clear and you must not have crammed the syllabus. For crammers, it will be really a pain. Otherwise, this is a systemic failure that needs to be taken in our stride. However, the punishment to the perpetrators must be very harsh.

Inayat Sidhu, Ludhiana to keep abreast with technology. It is inexcusable that the CBSE did not take preventive steps. As for the retest for all students, does the board have any proof of the leak spreading to 17 lakh students? Only a small section of the students were responsible for the leak. Retest should be confined to centres where the leak is confirmed. As for our maths paper, evaluators can easily judge by rough work and the style of attempt, if the student had prior information about the questions.

29)’, there is nothing to cheer in the recommendations of the cabinet to remove the exit test, the bridge course and 50% regulation of fee. What is needed is radical reform to improve the functioning of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and not the National Medical Commission (NMC). The cabinet did not touch critical issues concerning medical education, where a wrong decision can be catastrophic. These are that medical institutions need not take the regulator’s permission to add more seats or start a PG course. The NMC bill looks set to increase confusion, irregularities, opacities and unethical practices in the medical profession.

Vitull K Gupta, Bathinda aware of the adverse consequences of this as well. People are getting mechanical and attached to gadgets, rather than human beings. So, there is an increase in cases of rape, molestation and eve-teasing. We need to be alive to the consequences of losing our humanity due to the glitter and allure of modernity.

Aruni Handa There is no smoke without fire. Therefore, one can assume that data has leaked. This is a breach of the trust that citizens repose in national parties. Over time, all data is to be further digitised and converted into digital intelligence. This digital intelligence is handy in influencing national elections and controlling the thoughts of masses. A side-effect has been the loss of privacy and human dignity. All of us are reduced to digits or data that cyber wizards can manipulate at will. The speed of change is giddying. What shape will be world take 20 years, hence?
