The deceased, who has been identified as Fakiruddin, 65, was admitted to Kalpana Chawla government medical college here with multiple injuries. Talking to Hindustan Times, an official spokesperson of the Kurukshetra police said that the burial was performed at the native village amid police deployment.

Police have so far, arrested three people for their involvement in the clash and it has booked about 200 people under various charges ,including murder and attempt to murder.

The accused were produced in the district court on Wednesday and sent to four-day police remand.

The clash erupted on Monday over a piece of land which Muslims claim belongs to the state waqf board and was meant for a burial ground but was in possession of the family of Jasmer Singh Chahal for the past 50 years.

In January this year, the members of Muslim community took the possession of the land but on Monday, Jamser, along with others, allegedly tried to take back the possession of the land, leading to a clash.
