Procure wheat of Haryana farmers first: Khattar to DCS
CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday directed all the deputy commissioners (DCS) in the state to expedite the process of lifting of wheat from mandis (markets) of their respective districts and to keep an eye on the vehicles coming from the neighbouring states in a bid to keep tabs on the procurement of wheat.
Presiding over a meeting with the DCS through a video conference here, he said it should be ensured that wheat of Haryana’s farmers was procured first.
Khattar said all DCS will ensure the early lifting of the crop so as to avoid the dumping of foodgrains. He said they should hire additional trucks for this purpose. “As the procurement of wheat has already started, the movement of vehicles had increased from the neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab,” he added.
He also asked DCS to identify buildings in their respective districts for the remaining 15 Antyodaya Bhawans which will be opened by July 15 this year. Such bhawans have already been opened in seven districts.
Khattar said a target had been fixed to open 1,000 vyayamshala (gyms) on two acres of land each in the state villages.
“Of these, 400 gyms are ready and will be inaugurated on May 5 simultaneously in all districts,” he said, adding that on the International Yoga Day on June 21, the residents of these villages would perform yoga at gyms.
