Kipchoge wins London Marathon, Farah sets record
LONDON: Eliud Kipchoge won the London Marathon for the third time on Sunday, with Mo Farah breaking the British record as he finished third, while there was a surprise victory for Vivian Cheruiyot in the women’s race. Kipchoge, 33, won in a time of 2hrs 04min 17sec, finishing more than half a minute in front of Kitata (2:04:49), with Farah third (2:06:21).
GATLIN WINS FIRST RACE OF SEASON
LOS ANGELES: Reigning world champion Justin Gatlin clocked 10.05 seconds to win his season opening 100 metre race at the Grenada Invitational track meet on Saturday.
AMIR KHAN WINS FIRST FIGHT IN TWO YEARS
LIVERPOOL: Former world champion Amir Khan won his first fight in two years by stopping Phil Lo Greco in 39 seconds on Saturday.
Fighting in a British home ring for the first time in five years, Khan sent Lo Greco to the canvas inside 30 seconds. Moments later, he pinned the Canadian against the ropes and forced the stoppage.
LAHIRI SLIPS
SAN ANTONIO (US): Anirban Lahiri slipped to tied 66th in the third round of the Valero Texas Open. Lahiri, playing his third PGA Tour, shot 1-over 73 in the third round and was lying T-66 as compared to T-48 after the second round.

LOSANGELES: Aditi Ashok’s superb charge on the back nine with two birdies and an eagle 2 on a Par-4 at the HUGEL-JTBC Los Angeles Open helped her card 2-under 69 to move to T-9 after the third round.
FOUR GOLD IN JUDO
LALITPUR (NEPAL): India won four gold medals on the opening day of the 8th South Asian Judo Championship. L. Sushila Devi (48 kg), Kalpana Devi Thoudam (52 kg), A Anita Chanu (57 kg) and H Sunibala Devi (63kg) won in respective categories. India’s men bagged two bronze medals.

ROHTAK: Mandeep Jangra thumped Haerheng Wulepaer of China Dragons to register his first ever win in the World Series of Boxing format and guided the India Tigers to a 4-1 score, here at the National Boxing Academy. Earlier, Mohammad Etash Khan walloped Boxiang Zhu by unanimous decision to hand the Tigers an unassailable 3-1 lead. RESULTS: 46-49 kg: Shyam Kumar Kakara lost to Zhonglin Wu – 1:2; 56 kg: Mohd. SSB CHAMPIONS
NEWDELHI: SSB clinched the overall champion trophy of the 2nd All India Police Judo Cluster Championship. In gymnastics, BSF & CISF won while SSB were runners-up. SSB’S Kapil was declared all-round best in gymnastic championship. The wushu championship for men was won by SSB and Rajasthan were runners-up. In women’s category, SSB were the number one team and CRPF were second.
The judo championship was won by Punjab while SSB were runners-up in the men’s category. In women’s category, SSB won and CRPF were runners-up. In men’s taekwondo championship, SSB won and CRPF were runners-up. In the women’s category, SSB won and CRPF were runners-up.
