Gangster updates FB page from Sangrur jail, 2nd time this month

Sangrur:singer-turned gangster Ravi Deol, who is currently lodged in a Sangrur jail, has reportedly updated his Facebook page from the inside, twice within a month. However, jail authorities have denied the presence of any communication device with him.
No mobile phones have been found from his possession. It could be done from somewhere abroad, jail authorities maintained on Thursday.
In his post on April 22, Deol had uploaded a picture with text, “Kambli sadi fakir di, hasia taadi maar, aakhe eh vi leh gaya modean utton bhaar,” which roughly translates to “The ascetic laughed on seeing his blanket burn, another load off my shoulder”.
In his post prior to this on April 11, he had uploaded a picture of boxer Manoj Kumar with caption, ‘Gud luck Manoj (sic)’.
His posts have garnered thousands of likes and comments from his followers and supporters.
Deol had on January 30 surrendered before a Sangrur court, 11 years after he went underground.
The gangster was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in 2007 and ever since, lived in Mumbai, where he wrote songs and recorded them.
“We searched his barrack and questioned him too, but found nothing objectionable from his possession. He said his cousin from abroad might have updated his account,” said jail superintendent Dalbir Singh Teji.
Jails and cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had on Wednesday paid a surprised visit to the Patiala’s Central Jail and announced that the department was in contact with the Centre for an upgrade of jammers on prison premises from 3G to 4G to stop misuse of mobile phones.
THE GANGSTER-COP CONNECTION
Police had on November 27, 2017 registered a case against head constable Gurcharan Singh and gangster Dalwinder Singh, alias Babli, under Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisons Act and 29 of the Police Act for smuggling tobacco into jail.
Police had claimed that Gurcharan threw a parcel carrying tobacco inside the premises, while Babli picked it for Sukhjit, alias Sukha Kaludhi, who was facing 11 cases ranging from murder and kidnapping besides those under the Arms Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Prior to that, head constable Jarnail Singh was arrested on November 13 for smuggling tobacco and mobile phones into prison.
