KASAULI MURDER WAS COLDBLOODED, PLANNED

-

The cold-blooded murder of the woman assistant town planner in Kasauli was a planned crime, as the accused must have procured a pistol and then kept a watch on the officer. However, the real culprits are the officials of the town planning department for allowing illegal construction in the first place. Now, one of their colleagues has paid the price with her life. The role of the police too is dubious, as despite being present in numbers, it allowed the culprit to escape. Just a transfer or suspension for such criminal negligence is not enough. We need strict punishment for all those involved.

Jaspreet Kaur, Mohali all two-wheeler riders. Safety, however, cannot be ensured merely by making helmets compulsory for adult riders. No public authority has given thought to the safety of children, particularly infants, who are carried precariously on two-wheelers, without any safety provision. In the West, there is a ban on carrying children on two-wheelers; in cars too, children need to be placed in special safety seats. Will our administration start thinking of children’s safety on two-wheelers only after some court direction?
