‘I see more positives in a packed playing schedule’

- Sidharth Gulati

INDORE: David Miller is one of the few players to have played for one franchise in IPL. In 68 matches for Kings XI Punjab, the South African has scored 1613 runs at a strike-rate of 140.63, with eight fifties and a hundred. Miller has played some wonderful innings, including his unbeaten 101 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2013. This year he has featured just twice in the playing eleven XI, but Miller is confident his time will come. Excerpts:

Your thoughts after the first eight matches?

“It’s been amazing. Everyone’s playing really well. We have had a few outstanding performances from quite a few players. To win big competitions, you need inspired shows. Everyone has contributed on and off the field. I would say this is Kings XI’S best chance of winning IPL.

Your camaraderie with Indian players in the KXIP squad.

Brilliant guys. It has been a privilege to be a part of the Kings XI franchise for so long and meet such wonderful cricketers like them (R Ashwin, KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh etc.).

It’s nice mingling with them. You learn from them and at the very same time, it’s nice to share your experiences with them. As for KL, he has a good future. For sure, an all format India player. Ashwin is an astute captain. Yuvi we all know, champion player.”

You haven’t got many chances this year

Yeah, a bit disappointed, but that’s fine. It’s up to the management to decide the best XI. It’s important to stay motivated. Anytime you can be asked to play.
