Cop killed in firing inside Bhiwani court complex
ROHTAK: A policeman was killed and two undertrials were injured on Monday when three armed assailants opened fired at them inside the Siwani court complex in Bhiwani district. The deceased cop has been identified as Bhagirath, a head constable.
The firing took place when undertrials Sunil alias Kalia and Jai Kumar alias Bhandar, who are facing charges under section 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code, were brought to the Siwani court complex for a hearing. While the duo was heading towards the police van after the hearing, three members of the rival Mithi gang suddenly opened indiscriminate fire in which two bullets hit Bhagirath, who was escorting the undertrials. He died on the spot.
Kalia and Bhandar were also injured and later shifted to the Ch Bansi Lal Hospital in Bhiwani. While police managed to nab two assailants Sumit and Manjit from the spot, their third

accomplice Ajay Isherwal managed to escape. Police said raids are being conducted to nab him. According to the police, the Mithi gang had a long rivalry with the undertrials over a murder that had happened few years ago. Siwani SHO said they were interrogating the accused.
Haryana director general of police (DGP) BS Sandhu announced an ex gratia of Rs 30 lakh for the family of the head constable.
He said a family member of the deceased will also be offered a job under the special ex gratia scheme.
