State-level panel to probe death of stray cows, bulls in Hisar
HISAR: The case of over dozen carcasses of stray cows and bulls found on a government land near Thaska village on May 7 will be investigated by a state-level committee, said Bhani Ram Mangla, chairperson, Haryana Gau Sewa Aayog, during his visit to Hisar on Saturday.
Mangla also visited the government land, which belongs to central sheep breeding farm in Hisar, where more than dozen of carcasses of stray cows and bulls were found by the villagers. Mangla also directed the officials concerned to follow proper rules to bury the carcasses of animals and arrange proper food, water and medical treatment for the existing cows and other animals.
A government spokesperson said, “Mangla said the Gau Sewa Aayog will also send a proposal to Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar to set up a cow sanctuary on the 5,000-acre government land near Thaska village.”
He further said that after visiting the land where cows and bulls were found dead, Mangla directed the officials to prepare a proposal for the land to be developed as cow sanctuary. “The area is the natural habitat for these stray animals and proper facilities such as food, medical treatment and water will be made available for cows so they can stay there easily,” he added.
Over a dozen carcasses of stray cows and bulls were found on a government land on May 7. Residents of Thaska village, about seven kms from the city, had spotted the carcasses and informed Rampat Singh, husband of sarpanch Sulochana Rani, who further alerted the members of gaushala. The villagers had demanded arrangement of proper facilities as the animals were dying due to ‘non-availability of proper food’.
