AMRITSAR :A 65–year-old woman was found murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in her elder son’s house on the bypass road near Ranjit Avenue’s D-block on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Surinder Kaur.

In his complaint to the Civil Line police station of the district, the deceased’s elder son Kuldip Singh said his mother had been living with his younger brother, Surjit Singh, in Fatehgarh Sahib.

He said last week Surjit fell ill and was admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar and his mother had also come with her younger son and was staying at his house.

“On Saturday morning, I along with my wife went to Sainsra Kalan village to attend the marriage ceremony of my brother-in-law. When I returned at 4pm, I found my mother lying in a pool of blood. It seemed that someone had stabbed her to death with a sharp-edged weapon,” he said.

Soon after knowing about the incident, station house officer (SHO) of Civil Line police station, Shivdarshan Singh, along with other police personnel, reached the spot and started investigation.

He said a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered against unidentified men. He said till now they were clueless but investigation was going on to solve the caser.

“Right now, the body has been sent to the civil hospital’s mortuary house for postmortem,” he added.
