4 hurt as mob damages two houses, vehicles

KARNAL: Around 50 unidentified armed men allegedly attacked two houses in Sector 7 and Phoonsgarh area of Karnal late on Tuesday night.

Four people, including Dalbir Singh, his son Parveen Chaudhary of Sector 7 and Ankit Kumar of Phoonsgarh along with a woman, sustained injuries and had to be hospitalised.

The miscreants also attacked a police vehicle before fleeing.

However, the police have registered three FIRS under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigation.

An elderly woman Shakuntla Devi, who was present at one of the house at the time of incident, said around 40-50 people carrying guns, swords, sticks and iron rods barged into their houses and damaged everything that came in front of them.

The attackers were also accused of misbehaving with children besides snatching ornaments from women.

When contacted, deputy superintendent of police Rajiv Kumar said, “We had got information about the attack late night and a police team was sent to the spot, but they also attacked their vehicle.”

About the reason behind the attack, the deputy superintendent of police said in the preliminary investigation, it appeared that the attack was result of an old enmity but investigation was on in the case.

However, police officials said three people had been arrested so far and efforts were being made to arrest more people.
