4 hurt as mob damages two houses, vehicles

KARNAL: Around 50 unidentifi­ed armed men allegedly attacked two houses in Sector 7 and Phoonsgarh area of Karnal late on Tuesday night.

Four people, including Dalbir Singh, his son Parveen Chaudhary of Sector 7 and Ankit Kumar of Phoonsgarh along with a woman, sustained injuries and had to be hospitalis­ed.

The miscreants also attacked a police vehicle before fleeing.

However, the police have registered three FIRS under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigat­ion.

An elderly woman Shakuntla Devi, who was present at one of the house at the time of incident, said around 40-50 people carrying guns, swords, sticks and iron rods barged into their houses and damaged everything that came in front of them.

The attackers were also accused of misbehavin­g with children besides snatching ornaments from women.

When contacted, deputy superinten­dent of police Rajiv Kumar said, “We had got informatio­n about the attack late night and a police team was sent to the spot, but they also attacked their vehicle.”

About the reason behind the attack, the deputy superinten­dent of police said in the preliminar­y investigat­ion, it appeared that the attack was result of an old enmity but investigat­ion was on in the case.

However, police officials said three people had been arrested so far and efforts were being made to arrest more people.
