- Sarbmeet Singh

GIDDERBAHA (MUKTSAR) : Saying that names of loan defaulters of his department would be made public, cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has said that they had already recovered ₹6.5 crore in pending dues in recent times.

Randhawa, in town to distribute certificates to farmers at the loan waiver function on Wednesday, added, “Due to our policies, defaulters like SAD leader Dyal Singh Kolianwali has also paid up.”

“As part of the loan waiver scheme, ₹9,500 crore of 10 lakh farmers will be waived off,” he added. Taking a dig at the Akalis, Randhawa added, “Our government has waived our share of the GST on langar. The Akalis should take a firm stand.”

On farmers getting a waiver of as low as ₹2, the minister added, “These are minor clerical mistakes which can happen in big projects. Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said, “In the district, 9,400 farmers have got benefit of the loan waiver, of around ₹49 crore.”

WARRING, CONG WORKERS CLASH

There was a heated exchange of words and a scuffle between Congress workers and Warring, after some of them were stopped from reaching the stage. Allegations flew thick and fast with a Congress worker throwing a barb at Warring of having saved him in a drugs case. A video of the incident has gone viral.

Later, Warring said, “The allegations are baseless. I work for poor and the needy. Even during the SAD regime, officials had declared that I was not involved in any case.”
