- HT Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday said it will observe May 26, the day the Bjp-led NDA government completes its four years in office, as “Vishwasghat Divas (Betrayal Day)” and “expose” Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged failures on various fronts.

Addressing a news conference, Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot and the party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said there will be protests against the Modi government in every district of the country. Senior leaders will also address news conferences to expose the BJP for its betrayal of the people’s trust.

Terming the NDA government as “fascist and corrupt”, Gehlot alleged that it was destroying the country. He said the Congress will raise all the issues due to which “people were troubled” by this government.

“There is a sense of fear and mistrust among the people today. Their trust has been broken. Fuel prices are sky-rocketing. This is loot. They don’t even care about it,” the former Rajasthan chief minister said.

Surjewala said the 132 crore people of India stand betrayed as Modi “promised the moon but failed” to deliver. “The four years of Modi government have been a story of betrayal, deception, duplicity and of deceiving the people of this country,” he said.

Gehlot added that the Congress and other like-minded parties have taken a pledge to oust the BJP from power in the 2019 elections.
