During probe, it was revealed that Nandini was a homeless and was often seen with her friend Lakshay, an auto driver, who lives in Pooja colony in Karawal Nagar.

“We found that the man had been absconding since last week. It was also revealed that his real name is Ghulam Rabbani and he was driving a cab registered with an app-based aggregator in the name of Neeraj Jha for the past one month.

Verification showed that no booking was made on his ID for the last few days. We laid a trap and arrested him when he was going to Connaught Place on Friday,” Randhava said.

Rabbani told the police that he met Nandini three years ago. “Six months ago, he stole an autorickshaw from UP and Nandini was aware of it. Since she pressured him to surrender to the police, he planned to get rid of her. He claimed that on May 17 he took her to Hero Honda Chowk, Gurugram, in his auto and slit her throat with a paper cutter,” the DCP said.
