GURUGRAM : Gurugram student Prakhar Mittal is one of the four students who topped the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) Class 10 exams across the country by scoring 499 out of 500 marks.

Mittal, a student of Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurugram, said he was shocked when he checked the marks online and he immediately informed his mother, who was ecstatic.

“I knew I had performed well, I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be the national topper. My father was in a board meeting when I informed him, and he left it midway to immediately return home,” said Mittal.

He said he tried to study as many as 8-10 hours in a day.

To overcome stress, Mittal said he would take breaks where he would play the piano or meditate.“i am ecstatic. I was shocked and honestly was not expecting such marks. I thought I will score around 490, but the results shocked me. I want to pursue engineering after Class 12. I am interested in robotics and I would like to do something in this field,” Mittal said.

“He always studied even when we all went off to sleep,” she said.

His class teacher Rachna Bhatia, said she was confident that her students would do well. She said though her class has several well-performing students, she did not expect two of her students to among the national toppers.

Besides Prakhar, Writika Sarkar from the same class, was among the seven students who came second across the country by scoring 498 marks out of 500.

“Prakhar called me to tell me about his marks. It is a big day in my life as my two students have excelled at a national level. Both of them are very sincere and focused,” Bhatia said.
