Muslims ‘stopped’ from performing Namaz in Karnal

KARNAL: Members of Muslim community have alleged that they were stopped from performing ‘namaz’ and reciting ‘azaan’ by a group of people on Wednesday night in Naval village of Karnal district.

They also alleged that the accused also manhandled them and asked them not to recite the ‘azaan’ on loudspeake­rs. They miscreants also allegedly damaged the sound system at the mosque. Later, the police reached the village but the accused managed to flee. Talking to HT, Karnal superinten­dent of police (SP) Surender Bhoria said an FIR has been registered under Section 295, 506, 323 of IPC against Bablu, Mangal Ram and Subash and three others. But no arrests have been made so far, he added.
