MSP TO ENSURE 50% PROFIT, SAYS JAVADEKAR
AMRITSAR: Prakash Javadekar, minister of human resources development, said the minimum support price (MSP) of kharif crops will be fixed by adding 50% cost of production to it as recommended by the Swaminathan commission. This will ensure 50% profit at MSP of crops to farmers, he said.
Javadekar was here to preside over the 44th convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Accompanied by Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Shwait Malik and BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh, he was speaking at a press meet held to propagate social welfare programmes initiated by the Modi government during its four years.
Replying to a query on hike in petrol and diesel prices, Javadekar said prices of both are not in their control as these are fixed by the international market.
