Restore supply in five days or face stir: Cong to govt

- HT Correspondent

SHIMLA:THE opposition Congress on Thursday threatened the BJP regime to solve the water problem in five days or face a stir.

In a statement issued here, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the government has failed miserably to solve the crisis.

“If the problem is not solved in five days, the Congress will hold road-roko protests,” he said, adding that protest will be held not only in Shimla but other districts which are facing water shortage.

He said there is a war-like situation in Shimla and the government has failed even to provide drinking water to the residents. “The water crisis has also put a question mark on the efficiency of the state government,” said Sukhu.

The state Congress president said it is shameful for the government that the Himachal Pradesh high court had to step in to monitor the distribution of water in Shimla.
